The shown graphs illustrate the proportion of labor for each gender between 60-64 years old in four different nations in 1970 and 2000
Overall, all four countries witnessed a decline in the number of both men and women workers over the period.
It was noticeable that after 30 years Belgium became the nation with the lowest employment rate. As distinguished from Belgium, USA had the highest male employer percentage while Indonesia’s female workers were highest among 4 nations
Firstly, it’s notable that Belgium had the most dramatic de-escalate among the countries surveyed. This nation witnessed a fall from 79% to 52% and 63% to only 8%, which means it had shrunk threefold, in percentage of male and female workers respectively. Meanwhile the USA had a modest decline in the number of men who work, which made USA the country with the highest male employer rate from 60-64 years old contrast with the nation’s female workers, which had lowered twofold from78% to 45%
On the other hand, Japan and Indonesia had made comparable transformations over the period. Both countries had their male employers declined for around 10 to 12 percent, with Japan starting at 76% and fall down to 63% and Indonesia from 84% to 74%. Similarities are also found in the figures of these two countries between 1970 and 2000, as Japan had decreased 9% as for 15% in Indonesia. And despites the general shrunk in the percentage of elderly women who work, Indonesia remained the highest figure among the four.
