The diagram demonstrates the step-by-step process of making an igloo
The process involves five main stages beginning with collecting hard-packed snow and finishing with covering the entrance hole with snow.
Initially, individuals find and select hard-packed snow, subsequently cutting them into suitable sized blocks using snow saws, with a height of approximately 15 inches and a width of 3 inches at the top view and 8 inches at the side view, and then assembling the larger blocks together to form the foundation for an igloo. Following that people make edges of ice blocks smooth before putting them in a constructing upward circle, and a hole is dug under the wall to create an entrance. After that igloo makers choose an ideal snow block, slightly bigger in size, to place at the top.
At the next stage, snow is shoveled on the Igloo external wall and packed tightly into all the gaps while the inside surface is smoothed by hand, and any extra snow is thrown away outside. Finally, people create a hole in the form of the entrance, which is subsequently covered with blocks of ice
