In contrast, Sydney began with the lowest percentage of public transportation usage at around 12% and increased to 50% by the end of the period, remaining the lowest among the four cities.
In 1980, New York held the second highest percentage of public transport utilization at 20%, which rapidly grew to just above 40% by 2000. However, London eventually surpassed New York, ending at approximately 55%. After overtaking New York, London continued to rise, reaching a peak of around 65% and becoming the second highest city for public transportation usage.
