The 2 charts provide data on crime occurring in the UK for the last year, illustrating the relation between rates of crime and the criminals’ ages, and illustrating the types of crimes committed.
The least crimes committed are by children from the age of 0 to 8, from which the crime rate begins to rise, after which it skyrockets after the age of 12. The majority of crime is committed by people aged around 20 years old. After this age crimes committed start to recede, followed by a sharp decline in crimes committed by people over 24. Crime rates gradually decrease by age from here on out. This shows most crime is committed by people aged 12 to 24.
In terms of types of crime, almost half of the total crimes committed in the UK, last year were violent crimes, at 46%. Property crime follows at 23%, just above Drug crime at 22%, leaving the minority of crime being public order crime.
