The line graph illustrates data on the changes in the junk food consumption of UK’s population, over the period of 21 years, from 1970 to 1990.
Overall, it is apparent that Fish&Chips and Hamburger recorded an upward trend in citizen’s food preferences, while Pizza fell slightly in the end of the surveyed period.
Regarding the increasing categories, despite ranking 2nd in 1970 for providing approximately 95 portions, the figure of Fish&Chips grew steadily but then surged dramatically to nearly 150 in 1980. Eventually, it peaked at 500 in 1990 and exhibited the most significant increase. Similarly but to a lesser extent, the consumed amount of Hamburger rose gradually from roughly 20 portions to around 300 in the same period.
Concerning the remaining category, Pizza was showed to have the highest starting point, but declined minimally to about 210 portions in 1980. Finally, its consumption volume witnessed a moderate fluctuation around 200 portions over the subsequent years.
