The line graph illustrates the proportion of individuals using different methods for communication between 2000 and 2020.
The usage of some methods such as social media, instant messaging and email increased over the years, while letters and phone calls lost their popularity.
Looking first at the figures for social media usage, it is clear that it was one of the most prefered ways of communication in 2020. However, only five percent of people used this method at the beginning of the period. In addition, less than half of the people used email in 2000. However, the usage of both email and social media was 65% in 2020. Moreover, instant messaging was used by 10 percent of people in 2000. The tendency about it gradually increased and stood at 60% at end of the period.
Turning to the letter, there was a slight decrease from 2000 to 2020. It started from 20 % and it dropped to 5%. Furthermore, at the beginning of the 21st century phone calls were the main communication method for 80 percent of people. Then, a dramatic decrease was observed during the years and the figure for this way of communication fell to 40%.
