Overall, it can be seen that the proportion of the oldest individuals spending their free time on five different activities increased, especially hiking skyrocketed, except going theatre. Moreover, watching programs was the highest while surfing the Internet was the least during the given period.
According to the given chart, in the 1980s, the number of golden-agers having time available to watch TV started at 60% while surfing the Internet was only around 5%. Surfing the Internet slowly grew to nearly 15% and watching TV hit the top at 70% in the next 20 years. The figure of elderly seniors spending to watch TV slightly decreased by about 10%; however, surfing the internet continued to dramatically rise to 50% in the 2010s.
The percentage of reading began at 30% which was 20% lower than theatre. Both activities fluctuated, the figure for reading rose and reached 60% whereas theatre slowly declined to around 45% in 2010. The number of hiking quickly jumped from 20% in 1980 to 80% in 2010, which was four times higher than the first period.
