The line graph illustrates the daily amount of oil consumed and produced in China from 1982 to 2006.
It can clearly be seen that China saw increases in both oil production and consumption. However, there were differences in terms of the growth rate over the period surveyed.
In 1982, Chinese people consumed and produced just around 2 million oil barrels per day. While the data for oil consumption remained stable, the number of oil barrels produced rose to 3 millions and then stayed unchanged in the next 8 years. However, the year 1994 witnessed no changes in the amount of oil produced; meanwhile, the figure for oil consumption increased to nearly 3,5 million barrels on a daily basis, surpassing that data for oil production.
Between 1994 and 2006, there was a slight in crease in the number of oil barrels production, recorded at just about 3,5 million per day. By contrast, the data for the amount of oil consumed continued its rising trend and finally reached a high of almost 6,5 million barrels at the end of the period examined, which highlighted Chinese people consumed more oil than they produced.
