Overall, the consumption of beer and whiskey increased up to 2022 and is predicted to increase over the remaining period. Wine decreased in popularity and is assumed to continue this trend in the future.
In 2010 the consumption of beer and whiskey stood at approximately 250 and 100 gallons, respectively. The consumption continued to increase until 2015, when whiskey dropped from about 310 to 165 gallons by 2020. Thereafter a sharp increase reaching 630 gallons by 2030 is expected. Conversely, the popularity of beer increased more slowly, reaching about 320 gallons by 2020. Beer consumption will increase slowly in popularity to reach a little less than 400 gallons per year by 2030.
In contrast, wine was the most popular alcoholic drink in 2010, with consumption of 600 gallons in that year. Thereafter sales dropped to 560 gallons by 2015, and then it experienced an upswing, reaching about 600 in 2020. At this time sales started to decline and are expected to decline to about 270 gallons by 2030.
