The given line graph compares the recycling rate of four different materials in one country between 1982 and 2010.
Overall, over the whole period, paper&cardboard remained the most recycled material, with glass containers being the second. The percentage of recycled aluminium cans rose, while plastics remained stable.
In 1982, only two materials were recorded. Initially, paper&cardboard and glass containers were at approximately 60% and 50%, respectively. After climbing up to 70% in 1986, paper&cardboard fell to its initial point. However, in 1994 it showed a rapid increase to 80% and then slightly decreased over the rest of the period. Glass containers, also before returning to its starting point, dropped to 40%. In 1994, recycling percentage of glass containers started constantly growing and continued till the end of the period.
In 1990, aluminium cans and plastics joined the trend graph. From 1990 to 2010, aluminium cans showed a dramatic increase, climbing from 5% to just under 50%. Plastics recycling rate also has shown an upward trend with slight fluctuations between 1994 and 2002.
