The chart gives information about how much money people spend in Europe on food, leisure, clothing, transport and fuel or energy from 1960 to 2000.
Overall, the biggest part of money people between 1960 and 2000 spent on food, the proportion of total expenditure fell from approximately 35% to about 15%. The least amount of money was spent on fuel and energy and the proportion also decreased by about 3%.
It can be seen that only one proportion grew between 1960 and 2000 and it is transport. Expenses on transport increased by 1,5 times. Whereas, the clothing and leisure expenses became 3 times less, from 10% to 5% and from 20% to 10% accordingly. Moreover, there is one more thing that people started to spend less money on. The percentage of expenses on food fell dramatically from approximatelly 35% to about 15% in 2000, which is almost 2,5 times less then it was in 1960.
