The given line graph provides information about the population of Australia who spoke Chinese, Arabic, Italian and Greek as their first language from 1986 to 2011.
Overall, it is clearly seen that, the figure for Chinese and Arabic showed various increases, while other languages experienced a downward trend. Chinese increased significantly, making it the highest number among the remaining others.
People in Australia displayed a strong preference toward Chinese. Even though it ranked just over 100,000 users, the figure got a noticeable fillip, reaching its peak (350,000) in 2011. Arabic, however was the least popular choice among people in Australia in 1986, for there were only 50,000 users, then we can see that it grew by 100.000 until 2011 (150,000).
In contrast, Italian and Greek speakers showed decreases in figures. Greeks stem from the largest group at slightly over 220,000, but saw a continuous fell to just under 190,000 in 1986, Italian users decline from 150,000 to 105,000 by 2006, then showed little change until 2011.
