The line graph depicts the amount of money invested in AI and other venture capital firms from 1995 to 2017. Those data were measured in $BN USD.
A glance at the chart reveals that both the AI and other venture investment witnessed an increase throughout the period, although that of the latter made up higher than the former.
Looking at the figure for annual AI VC funding in detail, from 1995 to 1999, there was almost no investment in the AI venture firms (nearly 0$BN USD), but it then slightly increased by approximately 0.5 $BN USD in the next two years, before dropping back to 0$BN USD in 2005. However, it gradually climbed to over 0.5$BN USD in 2014 and then experienced a rapid growth in the following year, it could also be seen that during the same year it reached a peak of slightly below 4$BN USD. The figure then witnessed a changing trend and finally rose to below 6$BN USD in the last year of the period.
With regards to the annual investment in ordinary VC firms, with around 10$BN USD in 1995, from that year, it experienced a dramatic growth then reached a peak of over 80$BN USD in 2002. Surprisingly, it suddenly skydropped to below 25$BN USD in 2003, and then there seemed to be a fluctuation in the figure over the next 11 years. Finally, it climbed to roughly 74$BN USD and ranked first, although a changing trend could still be seen in the yearly conventional VC funding from 2014 to 2017.
