The line graph shows the revenue from cinema tickets and DVD sales in North America and in international markets between 2001 and 2010.
Overall, North American DVD sales and international cinema sales made the most money during the period. Most categories increased over time, but North American DVD sales rose at first and then dropped.
At the beginning of the period, DVD sales in North America were about $20 billion. This number went up slowly and reached a peak of $25 billion in 2004. After that, it fell gradually to around $18 billion by 2010. In contrast, international DVD sales started at just over $10 billion in 2001 and increased steadily to more than double this amount by 2010.
For cinema sales, the North American market changed very little, staying between $10 and $12 billion throughout the decade. However, international cinema sales grew steadily from around $20 billion in 2001 to $32 billion in 2010, even though there was a small fall in the middle of the period.
