The charts depict the amount of money for watching movies and the alteration in the proportion of market share shown by three forms of activities (go to the cinema, watch online, and rent a dvd) from 2005 to 2011.
Overall, the cost which people used for enjoying films soared in cinema tickets, while both DVD and legal download saw a fluctuation over the period in question. In fact, the percentage of going to the cinema dramatically rocketed, whilst downloading films and renting a DVD faced a slight decline.
Looking at the details, the tickets of the cinema stood at around 9 pounds and significantly increased by 5 pounds, which reached its peak in 2011. Meanwhile, DVD had a bit rise from 2005 to 2007, rising to 7 pounds and levelled off until 2009. Then, it steadily went up by a pound at the end of the period. Moreover, the downloading movie started the trend by plummeting to just over 6 pounds in 2007, but it was able to go up sharply and peaked at around 9 pounds in 2011.
Furthermore, it is notable that watching online movies sharply increased by 20 percent in 2011, which almost reached the proportion going to the theater in 2005. In contrast, both renting DVDs dwindled to just over half of the whole percentage, followed by watching movies in the theater that dropped to 18 percent at the end of the period in question.
