The line graph illustrates the amount of published articles per year grouped by gender, in a university by professors. The bar graph compares publications categorised by three subject of areas in four different universities. Both graphs have the same time frame between 2006 and 2012.
Overall, it is most noticeable that, number of articles published by male professors are significantly higher through out the years, while female professor publications have rose dramatically by the end of year. It can also be seen that, the highest number of publications were the humanities, even though sciences and arts have varied in the universities.
In 2006, male professor publications were three times higher than female professor publications and have remained high until the end of the time frame. Female publications have increased steadily until 2008 (around 2000 per year) with a slight dip in 2009 but has increased significantly in the next couple of years reporting just under male publications with 3000 publications per year by 2012.
Regarding publications by subject area of four universities, Warwick has the highest number of publications than any other university. Unlike Sheffield and Birmingham, the only two universities with more Science publications than Arts publications are Warwick with 90 publications and York with around 26 publications from 2006 to 2012.
