The pie charts compare the proportion of students who chose different courses in 1985 and now. Overall, it is clear that while modern languages were the most popular choice in 1985, they have been overtaken by IT in the present day.
Looking at the data from 1985, It was modern languages ranked first at 24% — a figure narrowly above fitness and dance’s 22%. Occupying third position at 17%, art was marginally more popular than local history at 15% — a course that was marginaly close to cookery ,at 14%. Then there was a music appreciation at 8% respectively.
Turning to the present day, IT is the most popular choice among students at 27% ,outplacing modern languages in 1985. Notably, fitness and dance lessons are remaining unchanged. Cockery ,however, increased by a margin of 6 percentage points. Modern languages ranked fourth at 17%, making it slighly more popular than art at 15%.
