The line graph illustrates the number of video game discs purchased from four retail stores from January to April in 2014, and the pie chart compares the proportion of games with the highest sales during the period.
Overall, whilst sales at Gamestop and Ubihard experienced a downward trend, Cyberium rose markedly. Also, it is notable that BioShock Infinite accounted for the largest proportion of total sales.
In January, Ubihard recorded the highest figure at approximately 2,800, followed by Gamestop and Cyberium, with around 2,600 and 1,700, respectively. In contrast, IGN reported the lowest sales (roughly 1,000). Over the subsequent months, sales at both Gamestop and Ubihard decreased steadily to 1,300 and 1,100, respectively, while IGN fluctuated slightly around 1,000. Meanwhile, Cyberium’s sales witnessed a noticeable increase of nearly 1,500, surpassing Ubihard to take the lead at the end of the period.
Regarding the distribution of game sales, Bioshock Infinite was the dominant category, reaching 30% of the total, closely followed by Pokemon Platinum with 28%. Conversely, the proportion of Assassin’s Creed Unity and Far Cry 3 occupied only half of the two leading games, amounting to 15% and 14%, respectively, whereas other games constituted the lowest share, at just13%.
