The line graph illustrates the changes in the historical revenues and expenditure alongside future monetary forecasts for a municipal government in New Zealand in Financial year ending 30th June.
Generally, the figures for every category ultimately increased, albeit to various degrees; while the rates revenue experienced the biggest change, that of grants and subsidies rose only negligible. In addition, rates revenue topped the chart across the whole-time span, whereas grants and subsidies remained at the bottom, despite overtaking borrowings a little in the middle of the span.
Looking at the details, the total number of rates revenue in 2012 started at roughly 1490 million and gradually grew over ten years to approximately 2490 million in 2022, recording the highest figure among all categories. In 2012, the number of user charges stood at 1000 million, before growing stable to 2000 million.
Shifting to borrowings, it is evident that they demonstrated fluctuation trends throughout the period. In 2012, the number of borrowings started with about 800 million, before experiencing a fluctuation. Then, this figure experienced the stability from 2017 to 2019, before peaking in its era, after which it bounced back to its starting point a year later. Grants and subsidies, on the other hand, experienced a growth, which resulted overtaking a borrowings, after which it declined to 500 million at the end of the period.
