The line graph illustrates the percentages of the population in four distinct countries from 1970 to 2040.
Overall, while the population rate across all countries was relatively low at the beginning of the period, these figures are set to increase dramatically by the end of the given timeframe.
In 1970, the proportions of the population in the Philippines and Malaysia were around 30%, individually. However, this figure for Malaysia rose to over 40% in 1990, before experiencing a substantial growth in the following years, reaching a high of 85% by 2040. Meanwhile, the Philippines exhibited a considerable rise of around 20% in the early two decades, followed by a gentle decrease to approximately 40% in 2010. Nevertheless, it will record a percentage of just under 60.
Conversely, the percentage of the population in Indonesia and Thailand followed the same pattern until 2000, when Indonesia’s rate exceeded that of Thailand, increasing dramatically to a high of 60% by the end of the period. In the meantime, although there was a considerable increase in the percentage of the population in Thailand, it was not as extreme as that of Indonesia, peaking at around 40% by 2040
