The diagrams illustrate changes in the front area of an Australian beach between 1950 and the present day.
Overall, the area has undergone several developments, with the addition of new facilities and adjustments to meet the needs of increasing visitors. Notably, the road has been extended to reach the lighthouse.
In 1950, a road connected the beach car park to the city from the western side. Along this road, various facilities were provided, including a pavilion for adults and a playground for children. A dining area was located between these two structures. To the south-east, a lighthouse stood by the seashore. In addition, there were two rectangular swimming pools, each measuring 25 metres, one near the lighthouse and the other on the western side, parallel to the playground.
At present, the road has been extended southwards, next to the lighthouse. Most buildings along the road remain unchanged, while the playground has been removed to make way for a second car park, which is accessed via a side road. The western pool has been enlarged to twice its original size and moved closer to the beach, whereas the other pool remains the same. The most noticeable change is the addition of new facilities, including a restaurant and two surf clubs, one located between the restaurant and the pool, and the other next to the lighthouse. Notably, the restaurant is doubled the size of a surf club.
