The maps illustrate layout of the coal mining area before and after redevelopment. Overall, the area has undergone significant modifications. It used to be waste zone and serve a small number of people at time; however, following the redevelopment, the area’s capacity and comfort increased with all the new amenities, such as eating and playing facilities along with in additional, a picnic area and a museum, being comfortably arranged to better serve the visitors.
Before the construction, the area offered very limited facilities. The entrence for undreground mine for workers could be found at the top, while the waste tip 1 and 2 were occupied overlapping in the right-hand side of the area. Furthermore, the madical room was located in the center, and the office was situated in the top left corner, and the car park was featured in the bottom left corner, adjacent to the lorry park. There was the staff changing room between the office and the car park.
After the construction, the area has significantly transformed. The most notable change is removal of the medical room, which for have been constructed of the cafe. The entrance and the car park have been maintained in their original positions, and the waste tip 1 and 2 have been demolished to make for the picnic area and the digger driving track, while the cildren’s play are has been newly added in the bottom right corner. The office and the staff chnging room are destroyed, and the the museum has built instead of it. Moreover, the lorry park have been changed in the souvenir shop, and the footpath have been from center to end of the left-hand side, which for people.
