Nowadays, everyone from the old generation as well as the young generation has a smartphone. It is very rare to find a kid who would not be on them majority of the time. It has its advantages and disadvantages but in my opinion the drawbacks outweigh more. This essay would shade light on both positive and negative impacts.
Firstly, the biggest drawback is how addictive phones can be. Children often lack the ability to focus for a long period of time and phones are known to be distracting. This affects them psychologically and physically as they can be doing something productive like playing. For example, I and many of my friends received our first smartphones after we turned 18 which in turn helped us concentrate on our studies more. In addition to that, there are many cases of scams online and children are often targeted more as they can be easily convinced.
Although there are a few positives which shall not be ignored. Nowadays various things can be learnt using smartphones and knowledge has become very accessible. Moreover, with the regular updates in technology, it is necessary for the kids to be on the same level as their peers. Also with the introduction of social media, it is easy to make friends and meet new people. For instance, my younger sister has benefitted more from smartphones as she found her passion for chess through Youtube.
In summary, both arguments have valid points but in my perspective, the younger kids are easily influenced which may affect the further down the line.
