The map illustrates the changes that occured on the island before and after the development of tourism. Overall, the island became more recreational, with new buildings and facilities, whereas before tourism, both sides of the island were predominantly covered with palm trees.
Initially,, the island was mostly natural, with palm trees scattered across the western and eastern sides. It was surrounded by a single body of water, and the only notable feature was a beach located of the western side.
However, after the development of tourism, the island under went significant expanded. On the eastern side many of the trees were replaced by new accommodations. Similarly, on the western side some trees were replaced, though a few remained untouched and additionally accommodations were built. In the center of the island, two new structures – a reception area and restaurant – were constructed.
Additionally, a pier was added along the coast to provide recreational area. The beach on the western side remained mostly unchanged
