The two maps illustrate some noticeable changes of Nelson town between the year 2000 and today.

In general, it is conspicuous that the town of Nelson has undergone urbanization and modernization with many transportation systems and entertainment facilities.

Looking first at the map nowadays , the city center has allowed parking and bike rental schemes. To reduce vehicle traffic and environmental pollution, the road near the city center turned into a pedestrian-only road. In 2000, an old supermarket was built on the west side of the center but was replaced by a new store and a new covered supermarket was built on the east side of the center today. The port area has built more entertainment facilities such as restaurants, bars and clubs.

In addition, in 2000, a school was built in the north and remained unchanged, now a tramline was constructed to connect the school to the city center to facilitate the movement of residents.Notably, the station was significantly improved and moved from the northwest to the north of the city center. Furthermore, a hall of residence and new shopping area were built respectively on the west and east of the university.
