The maps illustrate how a city called Castellón, which is located in Spanish, has transformed since 2000. Overall, the city of Castellón has experienced the significant changes and became more urban and modern, with the introduction of new entertainment and transport facilities such as bars, clubs, cinema, new shopping center, as well as a train line and a larger train station. It is also clear that Castellón is now a pedestrian-friendly area, which is no longer accessible by cars.
By 2000, the area became a just straightforward area without complex structures. In the middle, there was a city center that was empty. Also, a university stood at another section of the town, just next to the green space in the northeast corner. On the other side of the city center, to south of it, there was a main road which separated the city from the port located further east. The remaining facilities were an older market in the left-hand side of the city center and a train station just above it, while the rest of the space was unoccupied.
Currently, the city of Kesselheim presents a completely different and improved appearance. The city centre has now a bike rental scheme, enhancing considerably the city’s transport system. A tram line has been constructed to connect a university and the city centre with each other, while the town has experienced a new construction of a train station just below a university.
Similarly, both the western and eastern parts of the town have seen the majority of developments in terms of residential and recreational areas. Firstly, in the west there are a police station and a new shop instead of a train station and an old market in 2000. A hall of residence has been constructed in the northeast corner of the town while the opposite corner has followed the building of a cinema. Moving to the eastern section of the town where streets were cut down to make way for a new shopping center, while a partly finished construction of an airport and a new covered market are available in this site. Lastly, bars and clubs have been occurred in the southeastern corner of the town.
