The two maps illustrate the current layout of Hunderstone town and a proposed plan for its future development.
Overall, the proposed plan entails significant infrastructure changes, most notably the conversion of the airfield into an industrial area and a substantial expansion of the road network to improve accessibility across the town.
Currently, the north-western section of the town is dominated by an airfield, situated alongside the A1 road. In the proposed plan, this facility is set to be replaced by an industrial estate. To facilitate the logistics of this new area, a railway spur will be constructed, branching off from the existing north-south railway line to provide direct access to the new industrial zone.
Regarding the road infrastructure, major modifications are planned. The small ring road, which presently encircles only the immediate town center, will be replaced by a much larger, circular route that encompasses a wider area and crosses the railway line. Furthermore, a new A4 road is proposed; this will connect the western part of the town to the center, integrating with the new ring road. Additionally, a new major road will be constructed, exiting the town from the north-east, which will undoubtedly enhance regional connectivity. The gas station, however, remains unchanged in its original location between the railway and the road.
