Both provided maps illustrate the present road structure of a little town centre, which is also know as Islip, as well as the new design, for its reconstruction.
Overall, it is clear that the Islip town centre will go through a noticeable change over a significant period of time. A few of those noticeable additions for now are the shopping centre, brand new housing, car parking, a bus station and a dual carriageway.
Nevertheless, the biggest visible change will be conducted on the structure of the main road, as it will go from a straight line to more of an oval shape. In addition the current main road will be converted into a pedestrians only pathway; making it much more safer for non-vehicle users to walk to all the places in close vicinity. However unlike all the buildings previously mentioned, the school will still stay on the southwest part of the town centre. The planned structure for the dual carriageway making the road quite unstable by forcing children to cross it to get to school.
In conclusion, it could be said that the planned design modernises the town centre. Its mostly safe, with slight flaws here and there. Furthermore, the introduction of a new shopping centre and a large car park suggests a strategic move towards boosting commercial activities and economic growth.
