The two maps illustrate the changes in Lakeside between 2000 and 2009. Overall, the area underwent significant changes, transforming form a residential city into a commercial one. This transformation was mainly due to the introduction of shopping center and the expansion of industrial complex. The most noticeable changes occurred in the north-west side of the map, where several buildings were built or added. Despite these modifications, the school and residential area in the top left side of the map remained in their original positions.
Focusing on the area in 2000, the residential area was located on the top left side of the map, with the derelict warehouses on the right and the old town on the bottom. We could see the art center and school on the left side of the map, but the residential area was located on the south side of them. The woodland could be found on the east of the map, which contained the lake with a long river. If we went further along woodland area, we could come across the industrial complex in the middle of the map, with the residential area adjacent to it.
Moving on to the significant changes happening in 2009, while the residential area remained intact, the derelict warehouses and old town changed into a car park and offices, respectively. The arts center was replaced by the multi-screen cinema. On the other hand, school was expanded in numbers. The new university was introduced near the pond that had dried over the 9-years period until becoming a pond from a lake. Moreover, there was a shopping center in the west part of the map, which was occupied by the residential area. The southern part of the woodland and residential area had been cleared to make room for bigger industrial complex, which had been positioned between them.
