The maps illustrate the town of Wetherby in 2000 and how it changed in 2016.
Overall, there was significant changes in the area. Several buildings remained in their initial place, while others were replaced or enhanced by 2016.
Originally, in the northern section of Wetherby , there was a woodland between a farmland and houses. Main Street separates the north and central areas. Next to the road was an open-air food market and a square behind it. On the left side of the market was a house, while on the right were shops. In the southern part were a small office block and cottages with gardens.
The 2016 layout shows several transformations; the office block was enlarged significantly and took the place of the cottages. In the central area, a supermarket replaced the open-air market, and trees were planted in the square. Next to this, the shops were transformed into a multi-storey car park, and a hotel with a spa was built instead of the house. The woodland wasn’t changed, however the farmland, the houses, and the disused car factory were demolished. A housing complex, a block of flats, and a techno park were built in their place.
