The maps illustrate how the land transformed before and after the construction of a hydroelectric power dam over a twenty-year period beginning from 1990.
Overall, the most significant change was the creation of a large artificial lake, which led to the disappearance of natural habitats and historical structures. Additionally, infrastructure developments, including a hydroelectric dam and a hotel, were introduced.
In 1990, a river ran through the center of the area, dividing it into two distinct sections. To the west, there was a dense forest, an ancient structure, and a habitat for rare plants and animals. Meanwhile, the eastern side featured extensive irrigated farmland, several villages, and two mountain ranges.
By 2010, the landscape had been significantly altered. A massive reservoir was formed in the northern part, submerging much of the original land, including the farmland and natural habitats. A hydroelectric dam was constructed along the narrowed river, and electricity pylons were installed along its banks. Additionally, a hotel was built near the lake, possibly to accommodate tourists. Despite these changes, the two mountains in the north remained untouched
