The two maps illustrate and compare the changes of structure in a Dalton town from the year 1815 to 2015.
Overall, Dalton had became from a small farm village to a significantly larger, more developed urban area. The most noticeable changes were the dramatic increase in housing, the start of major transport infrastructure, and the replacement of green area and farmland by new buildings.
In 1815, Dalton forest, Bridleway, Hall farm were the main locations in Dalton town. Turning to 2015, nearly all the trees were cut down in Dalton forest, and this area was used to construct an industrial zone and a hospital, seperated by a newly built road running through the middle. In the East, hall farm was demolished in order to make way for the construction of a school. Additionally, a large number of houses grew substantially, occupied almost space in the East and North-Western area.
Regarding the road, the Bridleway was taken down to give space to a new bridge connecting two sides of river Dal. In the East, Dalton hall was converted into a new hotel. The more significant addition is an airport was put up south in later period.
