The maps show how the waterfront area of Darwin changed between 2009 and 2014.
Overall, the area became more modern and more suitable for public use. The industrial zone that was in the centre in 2009 was removed, and several new buildings and green spaces were added by 2014.
In 2009, most of the land around the lake was used for industrial purposes. There was also a school and a convention centre in the northern part, and a swimming pool near the sea on the right side. The fishing area was located at the top right corner.
By 2014, the industrial area had completely disappeared. In its place, the authorities built new residential buildings close to the lake and planted many trees in the southern part. A university building was also added to the south of the school. The swimming pool remained in the same position, while a new harbour was constructed near the sea. The fishing area did not change.
