The image illustrates two maps showing changes in Newport from 1980 to 2010. In 1980, features include a school and hospital in the northwest, a large park with trees centrally located, a lake in the northeast, and a parking area labeled "P" next to the hospital. The railroad runs horizontally across the map below the main road, with a railway station in the southwest and arrows indicating traffic flow northward. By 2010, notable additions include a shopping center replacing the former hospital park area, a sports ground in place of trees, a university southeast of the sports ground, and a factory near the lake. The transformation that happened in Newport city between 1980 and 2010 is shown in the maps.
Overall, the city infrastructure was developed by adding housing conditions and chopping down the trees.
In 1980, there was only a school and a hospital located in the northwest and a lake with a small road in the northeast. In front of the hospital parking took place, and forests were around the whole city. Southern ,there was a main road crossing pathway near the railway station with a short fence.
In 2010, a range of facilities like sport ground, university, apartments and factory was built instead of trees. The railway station became smaller and was relocated to the other side of the pathway and the fence was extended. The second main road was built parallel to the first road, near the residential area. The hospital was reduced in size, and parking was relocated to the right-hand side of the hospital, and the school was replaced to a shopping centre. Only the lake was unchanging.
