The 2 maps represent the Newport town transformation in 30 years.
Overall, through the period, it can be clearly seen that greenery was demolished to extend the amount of different amenities and facilities. Additionally, the road experienced a modernization.
In 1980, it can be clearly seen that the town consisted only with school and a hospital, which means that there is a lack of sufficient amenities. The half of the town contains a forest. The school is located on the Northwestern side, and it is surrounded by the road. The hospital is in the proximity of the school, alongside the road. Moreover, on the southern side of the hospital was located a big parking lot.
In 2010, the school was converted into a shopping centre, which was double the size than before. The parking lot was cutted down in size, while the previous location is now filled with university and sport ground, meanwhile demolishing the trees. The road between the Hospital and the School is converted into a crossing area, while the main road is extended and expanded, crossing from the eastern to western side of the town. A new residential area am=nd industrial estate is now located on the east side. With regards to the remaining railway, it extended twice in size and the railway station was relocated nearby.
