The maps illustrate the transformation that occurred in the layout of a library’s ground floor from 2001 to 2009.
Overall, significant renovations took place during this period, marked by the introduction of new features and the redevelopment of various sectors, particularly in newspapers and periodicals.
In 2001, upon passing the entrance at the bottom, a librarian’s desk could be seen in front of it. On the right side of the desk, there was a staircase leading to the upstairs. The floor featured eight tables in the middle, arranged in two vertical lines separately. To the right of these tables, this floor had shelves dedicated to newspapers and periodicals, while on the left were bookshelves for history and self-help genres. Moving towards the top, a fiction section was present.
By 2009, the entrance, librarian’s desk, and stairs remained unchanged. However, a new computer area emerged in the upper part of the stairs. The tables in the center were reconfigured into four units formed in one straight line, accompanied by a children’s area in the upper part. On the right side of the floor, there used to be a newspaper and periodicals area, but it then turned into a recreational area (films and DVDs.), whereas on the top, the fiction was replaced by a children’s area. To the left of the floor, some features were added, including a new law, economics, kitchen area, and fiction genres, while the section for self-help and history is still intact.
