The maps illustrate changes in the town of Maritza between 1984 and 2014.
Overall, Maritza changed significantly over the 30-year period. The town became more developed and urbanised, with many natural areas replaced by residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
In 1984, Maritza was a relatively quiet town. There were large areas of woodland in both the northern and southern parts of the area, as well as a park in the southwest. The town also contained a hospital, a library, several houses and a school. In addition, a café, a restaurant and a car park were located near the centre.
By 2014, the town had undergone major development. The woodland areas were removed and replaced by factories, skyscrapers and apartment buildings. New facilities such as shops and shopping malls were constructed, and a bicycle park was added. Moreover, a cycle lane was built across the town. While the hospital, library and school remained, the overall area became much more built-up than before.
