The two maps illustrate how the city called ”Maritza” changed over the years (1984:2014). Overall, the area became more industrialized and modernized with the construction of factories and Skyscrapers. The further development which took place in the area was that the woodlands were cut down in order to make space for new buildings. Despite those significant shifts, some of the places in the city remained intact over the given period.
In 1984, the city was a relatively simple city with some housing facilities and green spaces. It was divided by a main road into two parts, with woodland located on both sides. In the northern part, there are several houses as well as a hospital, a library and a car park, whereas the southern area contained a restaurant, a café, a school and a park.
By 2014, there several alternations. The hospital and the library were knocked down to build three shops. After that, two factories were constructed to the left of the car park. There was the woodland at the top of right-hand corner of the city was demolished in order to make room for new three skyscrapers. Following that, four houses were converted into apartments and a new bicycle park. Although the restaurant stayed intact, two shopping malls were added opposite the expanded park. Finally, the café and the woodland converted into a new fountain and the hospital and the library, respectively.
