The maps illustrate the developments that took place in the same city over the period of 20 years, starting from 1985.
Overall, a comparison of the given maps reveals dramatic transformations toward modernization albeit at the cost of the green zone, especially in the western area of the city.
To the West, there was a demolition of trees, making room for an industrial area. More specifically, in the northwest region, the entire park was converted to two factories while the bus station was knocked down to give space for the development of a new airport. Meanwhile, the parking still remained in its position during the observed timescales. Furthermore, with the appearance of two aforementioned factories in 2005, a new road directing to the south was also set up to connect with the existing road. When it comes to the southwest area, the significant change was that the hospital was enlarged with the removal of a tree and a resident house. Moreover, 2005 also witnessed the disappearance of several trees next to the school, which was replaced by a new bus station.
The Eastern area saw a dramatic change from a sparsely populated area to a more modernized and crowded landscape. In the northeast region, all trees were chopped down for the new construction of resident houses on the top right-hand corner. Opposite to residential area, a string of skyscrapers was constructed, aiming to cater to the increasing demand for accommodation of residents. In the southeast area, a camping location for visitors was transformed into a large hotel, making this area more convenient for holidaymakers to stay compared the the 1985 version.
