The maps illustrate the changes that took place in the seaside town of Tendiff between 1990 and 2010.
Overall, Tendiff underwent significant development over the 20-year period, becoming more urbanised and better equipped with facilities. While the beaches and general coastal layout remained largely unchanged, several new buildings and services were added, and some existing structures were replaced.
In 1990, the town centre consisted mainly of small-scale facilities, including an arcade, a café, a shop and a fast-food restaurant located near Spraymount Road. There were two hotels, namely the ABC Hotel and the Seaview Hotel, and access to the beaches was limited. Brown, Grey and Diamond beaches were largely undeveloped at that time.
By 2010, the area had been substantially modernised. The arcade was replaced by a supermarket, and a seafood restaurant was added near the café. A police station was constructed to the north, and two new hotels, the King Hotel and the Family Hotel, were built along Sandhill Road. In addition, a solar farm was introduced in the southern part of the town. Despite these developments, the fast-food restaurant and the main beaches remained unchanged.
