Overall, the waterfront experienced a dramatic transformation from an industrial area with trade and transportation activities to a residential complex with leisure facilities, infrastructure, and residences.
In 2002, the southwest side of the zone had three warehouses adjacent to a factory in the south. Directly in front of these warehouses, there were six piers used for container ships to dock. Further to the northeast extremity of the harbor were two factories and a ferry terminal, still operating.
By 2022, the waterfront had undergone significant enhancements except for the harbor and ferry terminal. To the southwest, the warehouses were destroyed to construct a park and hotel. Additionally, many residential houses were introduced on both banks of the river. After 20 years, the piers were replaced by a marina for private vessels. On the east waterfront, a new office tower was built. Furthermore, all factories were demolished to make way for two parks, one in the west, and the other in the northeast, close to the ferry terminal.
