The diagrams compare the current road layout of a small town with a proposed redesign aimed at improving safety and traffic flow in the future. Overall, the most significant planned change is the introduction of a large roundabout at the central junction, accompanied by new traffic lights, which together are intended to reduce the number of frequent accidents.
At present, the road network consists of several narrow roads converging at irregular angles, particularly around the Forest Road-City Road intersection, where multiple accident hotspots are indicated. The school is located to the northwest and is connected by a short road leading to City Road, while the supermarket lies to the east with direct access to Forest Road. Several houses are situated along Low Lane, which currently merges awkwardly into Forest Road.
In the proposed future design, the hazardous junction will be replaced by a modern roundabout, linking all major roads smoothly. Traffic lights will also be installed at key points, including the entrances to the school road, Low Lane, and City Road, helping regulate traffic and enhance pedestrian safety. Access to the supermarket becomes more integrated, with redesigned connecting roads feeding directly into the roundabout. Although the positions of the houses and main facilities remain unchanged, the upgraded road layout is expected to create a more organized and safer transport system.
