The maps below shows information about changes in the downtown of Bates from 1950 to 2050.
It is noticeable that, the most notable alterations are observed in the expansion of the population, the business district and the residential area. Conversely, bridges and major roads exhibit no substantial modifications.
Based on an examination of two maps, the population witnessed a significant increase, expanding almost tenfold between 1950 and 2050. Concurrently, the central business district and residential areas experienced considerable growth from 1950 onwards, which led to a marked enlargement of the city’s overall footprint. A comparable transformation is evident at the airport in the southeast; while its location is unchanged, it has undergone significant enlargement to accommodate increased demand.
However, the road network and bridges have largely remained unaltered. Furthermore, the river traversing the city’s center since 1950 has been redeveloped into a substantial lake and dam. Although the original government building maintains its position, a new governmental structure has been erected to the south. Another development is the construction of a new road, which now extends to a new bridge spanning the aforementioned lake.
