The two maps illustrate how Porth Harbour has changed between 2000 and the present day.
Overall, the harbour has undergone a significant transformation from a functional marine area with fishing and private yacht facilities to a more recreational and tourist-oriented location, with the addition of new amenities and infrastructure.
In 2000, the northern part of the harbour featured a marina for private yachts, with adjacent showers, toilets, and a car park, all accessible from the main road. A fishing boat area was located further south, also served by its own car park. Only one dock was available, which catered to passenger ferries. A lifeboat was stationed near the center of the eastern shoreline, and a disused castle stood at the southeastern tip. The beach to the northeast was entirely public.
By today, significant changes have occurred. The marina has been relocated to the south, replacing the former fishing boat zone, which in turn has been moved north. A second set of showers and toilets has been added near the southern car park. The dock area has expanded, now featuring a second dock to accommodate more passenger ferries. The disused castle has been replaced by a hotel, which now enjoys exclusive access to a newly designated private beach. Additionally, cafés and shops have been built near the lifeboat, adding commercial appeal to the central waterfront.
