The maps illustrate the modification in Porth Harbour between today and the beginning of the 21st century. Overall, there was no replacement in terms of construction, and it is recorded that the harbor has undergone some developments along with alterations in the usage of some areas.
To start with, in the North of the map, the public beach remains at the same location, but there has been an improvement for the docks. In particular, there were only 2 parking spaces available for the tourist ferries, but now we have an additional one, near the fishing boats area, which used to be the private yachts’ place. At present, the harbor does not have any room for fishing boats anymore since it was modified to accommodate private yachts.
Regarding facilities, the way to both parking lots is now through the main road instead of the situation where one had to access from the Hoad. In notably, there had been a construction of showers and toilet area between the car park. Additionally, there is a location for cafes and shops next to the lifeboat placement and opposite the dock. Lastly, the swimming area behind the Hotel is no longer open, and it is restricted for the hotels’ customers only.
