The line graphs compare how monthly price of exported rice has changed in Vietnam and Thailand between 2012 and 2015.
Overall, rice exports in Thailand over all years, except 2013, generally increased. This pattern contrasted to Vietnam, where all years, apart from the last one, saw declines.
Turning to Thailand, it is clear that its exports were initially at peak and albeit fluctuated throughout the entire period, its figures followed an upward trend by the end of the period. In 2012, the figures for January stood at 500 million dollars per tons, before significantly dropping in May. However, from this point on, it surged to reach the highest point (550 million dollars). In 2013, country experienced a steady decline from 550 to the lowest point of $400 million. Figures for both 2014 and 2015 gradually increased and both stood just below 500 by December.
Conversely, in Vietnam, it can be observed that initially it followed a downward trend. In the first year, the output was at peak of 400 million dollars, although it dipped noticeably by December. The following year – 2013 and 2014, were relatively similar with their figures falling to 350 and 325.However, the last year showed the biggest increase, climbing form just 300 million dollars to exactly 400 by the end of the year.
