The image depicts the layout of a museum in 1998 and its alterations in 2008.
Overall, the most striking transformations were the relocation of the Temporary Exhibition Room, the bags and coats section, the shop, and the public restroom, along with the establishment of a suite of visitors’ facilities.
Regarding the left section, in 1998, the Permanent Exhibition Room occupied the upper half, with a Temporary Exhibition Room below. By 2008, the temporary one was then relocated to the centre of the left section, whilst a new restaurant was added at the top left corner. Furthermore, a dedicated bags and coats section dominated the bottom left corner, with an adjoining shop to the right.
The middle part contains a spacious, central garden, with a cafe located above in the previous year. A decade later, the garden was equipped with a decorative fountain and a sheltered cafe sitting area to the left. The top section was dominated by a cafe before it was later added an additional restroom. Visitors entered the museum through a central doorway housing the ticket entrance and exit on the bottom corner of the plan, whereas it remained intact after refurbishment.
The right portion comprised a vast set of Permanent Exhibition Rooms. In 1998, a shop was positioned at the bottom left corner, with adjoining public restrooms and bags and coats section. Notably, a decade later, the shopping area was completely eliminated and the restrooms were relocated to the middle part, making way for the Permanent Exhibitions Rooms.
