The diagram illustrates the arrangements made for an emergency evacuation in case of fire in Gillespie Neuroscience Research facility.
Overall, the facility a long hallway with two stairways on both the ends of the hall. There are two fire alarms and fire hose or extinguisher in the facility. In addition to that, both the stairs does not have access to the roofs and it is suggested that in case of emergencies people should use stairways to exit rather than elevator.
The facility has one elevator situated at the south-west side and an alley which leads to the main hallway. There are two stairways which has no access to the roof are located on the western and eastern side of the basement alongside the fire alarms, which make sounds like horn and looks like flashing light.
As for the fire extinguisher, one of them is available on the center of the hallway, whereas the second one is located in the alley, which leads to the elevator. Moreover, the plan shows that I am standing on the western-side of the facility just besides the fire alarm. The evacuation plan suggests me to either use the stair 2 on the western-side or move towards the hallway, which leads to the turning of main exit and stair 1. It is also mentioned to call the fire department by dialing “911” in case of fire emergency.
