Overall, the highest percentage of household expenditure leisure, Food& drink, and utility bills in both countries, while the proportion Of household generated from other categories was lowest in the given years.
In terms of food and drink, consumer expenditure was higher in New Zealand than the UK in 1980, at 23% to 29%. The people of the UK and New Zealand spent almost similar percentage of money on utility bills in 1980. On the opposite side, the people of New Zealand spent more money on transport than the UK at 15% to 17%.
On the other hand, spending on these items was lower in the UK and New Zealand.The people of the UK and New Zealand spent lowest proportion of money on others between 1980 and 2008.The people of New Zealand spent almost double money than the UK on food and drinks in 2008. In 2008 people in the UK spent34%of their money on leisure, while people in New Zealand spent about half.
