The chart illustrates the contribution of various industry sectors to the Turkish economy in 2000 and 2016.
Overall, there was an upward trend over the 16-year period, with the most significant growth seen in the Trade, Utilities, and Transportation sector. In contrast, Agriculture experienced a notable decline.
Agriculture accounted for 24% of the economy, which was double the figure for Government services at 12%. By 2016, both sectors had seen a significant decrease, falling to 14% and 9% respectively.
On the other hand, Leisure, Hospitality and Healthcare, Education shared the same percentage 17% in 2000. While Healthcare and Education remained unchanged about the figures, Leisure and Hospitality fell to 14% after 16 years.
In contrast, in 2000, the percentage of Construction, Manufacturing, Trade, Utilities, Transportation, Finance, Business and Other accounted for small in economy. All of them went up dramatically and had the similar percent in 2016, except Finance, Business and Other remained under 10%.
